Blue SAMURAI
From my own personal collection, an Italian Picklock side opener, the BLUE SAMURAI. Blue mammoth ivory scales that you are unlikely to see the same quality of now that there is a ban on all ivory from Obama and due to the fact that China has been buying up all the ivory. Exhibition grade blue ivory comes from Russia under the permafrost and is estimated to be at least 15,000 yrs old. The ivory has fissures throughout with browns and a few blacks in the mix. Bought a tusk over 10yrs ago and this set of scales is from that tusk. Magnifiscant blue coloring. The Damascus steel is from Chad Nichols. I asked Chad to forge me special carbon ladder with nickel. The result is a tight ladder pattern with silver lines throughout. I high polished the steel and then hot salt blued. The steel is a high glossy black color with dominant ladder pattern throughout the steel. Not a steel you can find just anywhere. The blade is a 3/16" thick hollow ground TANTO blade. The tip was flat ground and the top and bottom grinds were hollow ground with a 3" wheel. A grind that only a few makers in the entire world can do properly. Sans guards top bolsters with a 45 degree cut on the guards and ends of bolsters. We wanted to mimic a Katana sword with the same look and appeal throughout the knife. Button is inlayed with a light blue sappire gemstone. The Damascus liners have extensive vine filework that wrap around the .100" thick Damascus steel. Branch filework adorns the W-1 spring steel inside and out. Our trade mark "twist your wrist" action on this picklock when you fire it. Bronze phosphorous .005" washers provide a silky smooth action. A true ARTKNIFE by all means and one of the last Italian picklocks that we will ever build in this fasion for the discriminating collector who desires a custom knife that no-one else in the world has. Stiletto comes with a custom hand made case that we had specially built with exhibition grade spalted maple wood with heavy brass hardware. Knife and case comes with a signed letter of authenticity from BurnKnives, maker Paul Panak. As shown: $3600. SOLD
